Yea, I remember John playing the double cutaway Epi. I thought he also might have had the Gibby version? I remember Mic playing an Epi LP standard as well. I always wondered, was there a sponsorship deal with Epi? Nothing against Epiphones, but (as I'll elaborate on in a minute) I would think career musicians would typically prefer something a little more high-end. This excludes the Casino.

I played Epiphones exclusively for awhile, mostly due to budget constraints. But I still love my Epi LP. Liked the Epi SG enough, my Dot (335 copy) still gets some use. I owned an Epi Elitist LP awhile back too and it was nice. Still, lately I've become more of a fender guy. Have a real nice MIM tele and then the Jazzmaster.

Anyways, now to the point. Threw the Jazzmaster on Craigslist for cash or trade. Almost immediately got a guy wanting to trade a Gibson Blues Hawk. I had never heard of it but googled it and liked what I read. Really light, semi semi-hollow (I don't know if it's really considered semi-hollow, mostly appears cosmetic to me), P-90s (my favorite), plus it's pretty as hell. My jazzmaster was upgraded so I was trading up. Made the trade and LOVE THIS GUITAR. I've played plenty of Gibsons and always liked them more than Epis but never felt the price difference was worth. But, man, this thing is killer.

Totally went against my first post (i.e. No impulse buys (trades)) but it was worth it. Not sure if my search for the perfect guitar is over but I'm digging this thing big time right now.

Wish I'd forget everything that I want, not that I need.
