Holy hell it's been ages since i've been on here - i didn't see the site anymore, but man i'm glad the forums are still here!!

As for the Epi double cut in question - i was able to score one of these on ebay at a very nice price a while back. These particular epi's were made in the Samick factory (for those of you that don't know, they are one of the largest instrument producers in the world, and are known for HIGH quality). This was a limited run i believe in the mid to late 90's - and they can be identified with the Gibson crown on the headstock, which in itself is rare. These guitars from the Samick factory were near Gibson US quality.

Now with that being said - i can personally vouch that this guitar kills. I have a burst reissue that i love, but there are times i just can't put the epi down. I'm not sure if i got one with stock pickups or not, but these are hands down the best P90's i've personally played on...and this is coming from a humbucker guy.   I also had one of those Gibson DC's with the P100's from 2003 and it suuuuuuccckkkkkkked.  As a die hard Gibson fan i was totally let down.  This guitar is 2039410293842 times better in every way.

Here's a pic of my current lineup http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/9439/photophd.jpg

PS:  To get to the original post - go to ebay for sure.  Look for Les Paul studio's from the late 80's early 90's - back then they were made almost to the same quality of a standard.  Yes there's no binding, but they sound incredible.  You can get one for under 1000, and they can't be beat for the price.  A good backup would be a Fender Big Apple (especially if you're a fender fan)...these were a mid 90's run, double humbucker which was super rare on a strat...and US made.  You can get these for 600-800 on ebay typcially.
