I've always hated that word "preachy." John said he doesn't want to be wishy washy about his faith so I'm guessing you'll find the new music "preachy." But some of us don't feel the need to change "God" or "Jesus" to "higher power" or some other watered down New Age euphemism. Songs about God (if they are any good) should get under your skin, make you reflect, heck, maybe even make you feel a little out of sorts about the current state of your life. My momma use to call it "gettin convicted." Johnny Cash and a host of other great musicians have sung about God and didn't get bashed for being "preachy." But before this thread unravels into "believers vs. agnostics," let's wait and hear the new album first. If the song he unveiled last weekend is any indication, I think it's gonna be amazing stuff. But stuff that will be very direct in its message and its origin. "Jesus Gonna Build Me A House" sounds like a "Mansion Over The Hilltop" for a new generation.
